Light shows us beauty in our lives.
Metaphorically, we "see the light" when we suddenly understand something that has been hidden from us or that we did not want to see. Something that was quoted to me recently, in line with this thought, was that, once you start letting the Holy Spirit show you the truth about something, there is no turning back--it would be denying God Himself to do so.
There are at least 309 mentions of light in the Bible. God Himself appears throughout the Bible as a light (the burning bush, the light leading the Israelites through the desert by night--these appearances are known technically as theophanies). And of course, "the Light of the world," Jesus.
If you're stumbling around in the dark, you reach for the light. When I find myself in a dark place, I notice that that is when I reach for the Light. When I'm ready to see God's truth.
"No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light." [Luke 11:33 (KJV)]
