So often, when I pray, I don't think my prayers are going to be answered the way I want them to be. So often, when I pray, I pray out of a place of fear inside, instead of a place of love and joy and thanksgiving and praise, thanking God for the answers He already has on the way and for the fact that He knows what is best. So often, I pray small.
But God wants us to think big, dream big, for Him. He wants our best, not our smidgeonly prayers that are from our fearfulness and our inability to see ahead. It's like when we see our children not doing their best because they are afraid they will fail.
I keep going back to this one verse, 1 John 4:18. The translation I like to read this in is the Living Bible.
1 John 4:18 (TLB) 18 We need have no fear of someone who loves us perfectly; his perfect love for us eliminates all dread of what he might do to us. If we are afraid, it is for fear of what he might do to us and shows that we are not fully convinced that he really loves us.
So why be afraid to pray big? Afraid that God won't answer? He answers all prayers. Maybe not the way I want Him to, but He does answer.
What can you pray big about today? Maybe to have a fear taken away from you. Maybe to be bold and dare greatly. Maybe to be able to dream big for God.
