I can’t tell right now.
I’m fearful that You have decided
I’m not worthwhile.
Anyone else would have decided that,
Years ago.
I screwed up once again.
Failed You, failed my family,
Distanced myself emotionally,
I can’t keep doing this thing called life,
Not on my own.
If You have forsaken me,
O, God, where shall I go?
What shall I do?
Without You.
You know that little voice inside,
The one that says, “You’re gonna be sorry!”
Well, yeah, that.
I should have listened.
God, I am so sorry
I didn’t listen to You,
I did what You said
I shouldn’t do.
The elements roar,
The sirocco of the Middle East,
the Chinook of the Northwest,
the mistral of France--
that great warm wind--
That great and powerful, wild wind--
From all corners of the earth,
The wind rises.
The waves swirl
The rains come flooding down,
The earthquakes rumble,
Shaking me to my core.
The fire comes raging by,
Consuming all in its path.
Yet, I will not be afraid.
For God is not in the wind,
nor the rain,
nor the earthquake,
nor the fire.
But in the small, still voice
That says,
In the midst of all the turmoil--
“Hush, now, you are safe.
It will be all right.
I have you in My arms.”

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. [1 Kings 19:11-13, NIV]
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” [Matthew 8: 24-27, ESV]
